Situation:

Martin Engineering was looking for a program to do organizational charts for the Human Resources department.
|
|
Task:
|
Find a piece of software to do organizational charts and also had the ability to integrate with a payroll data file and print partial organizational charts as needed by department.
|

Action:
|
Researched and found Microsoft Visio would do all the things the Human Resource department required. I proceeded to get certified in Microsoft Visio. I was able to configure and train the two people in the Human Resources department how to use the software. This included downloading the files from Ceridian, the import process, and touching up the chart.

Result:
|
The Human Resources department was very happy they did not have to re-key the employees into the software and really liked the way it imported and built the organizational chart. On a side note, the Marketing Manager thought it would be neat if he could see his product groups in an organizational chart view with sales dollars rolled up. I created the database script to export the data, then imported it into Visio and the chart came up better than he ever expected.
